Sitting on a Plane
On my walk back from my group run/beer/food tonight, it was hard to miss Jupiter near the partially clad moon. I knew Mars was somewhere in the sky, but it took a bit to find due to my orientation. I walked onward, periodically spinning around to catch them. It was just long enough of a stroll for my eyes to adjust, at least as best as you can expect with cars and street lamps. I'm not sure if it's more fun spying stars and planets I know, or wondering about the ones I do not. As I made my way closer to home, I saw the Big Dipper with Polaris in its sights. Unfortunately, there's far too much light pollution where I live to see more than a few stars of the Little Dipper.
I cut my post for “yesterday” a little close, so it seems fitting that before I go to bed I post for “today”. Midnight is such a fickle, if constant, thing. The photo for this post I took using my simple point-and-shoot camera via a tripod and by fiddling with its settings. And of course, Photoshop. Have you seen the Hubble shots? Those colors are fake! But still, awesome. So, Jupiter and its moons don't have a blueish/purplish tone to them. But they could, if your mind is properly aligned.
I see the moons of Jupiter
sitting on a plane
I know you’re crossing the country
never to see me again
Jet set fashionable
screaming for romance
Never looking over your shoulder
Always pushing away
I’m alone in the ink dark night
stars singing while sitting in place
White blue yellow red
light streaking to me
even while they might already be dead
Relative time
no matter what the in-laws might believe
Mars is rising
the moon is falling
I’m left to my own devices
I’m not sure if you’ve left
any pieces of me
